Referee Fitness Requirements for Officiating State Level Games

Here are the new CLASS 1 fitness test standards as voted by the Maine Association of Soccer Officials for Officials wanting to referee at Regional and State level matches:

Effective in 2004, there is to be one standard for all age groups.

12 minute run: 1 1/8 miles
50 yd dash: 8.5 sec
5 by 25 yd run: 42 sec
4 by 25 yd run: 30 sec

*Note  these standards are generally the standards that were previously in
place for the 40 and over age group. (The 12 minute run distance was reduced
by 1/8 mile.)

MASO also voted that to be included on the list sent by the Local Officials' Board to the
State Assignor,  eligible Class 1 officials for Referee or Assistant Referee
must have passed the fitness test in the current year to officiate the
Regional Finals and State Finals .  The list of eligible officials submitted
by the Local Board to the State Assignor is to include this requirement as a
qualification along with the current requirements already in place.

There is no requirement that Class 1, Class 2 or Class 3 referees must pass
the fitness test to work regular season varsity games or playoff games
before the regional final round.
